The Philadelphia 76ers have been one of the best teams in the NBA with reigning MVP Joel Embiid in the lineup. Unfortunately for them, he has been dealing with a knee injury that has kept him sidelined and will keep him there, for the foreseeable future.

With Embiid on the court, the 76ers are an impressive 26-8, which had them contending with the Boston Celtics for first place in the Eastern Conference. However, without him, they haven’t been able to get near that level of success.

In the games Embiid has missed this season, Philadelphia has managed to go only 7-17. With him in the lineup, the 76ers are legitimate contenders for the NBA Championship. Without him, they aren’t even a playoff team in the Eastern Conference.

Are we going to see Embiid back on the court with his teammates at any point during the 2023-24 campaign? When interviewing with reporters today, Embiid revealed that the plan is for him to return at some point.

NBA NEWS & RUMORS: Joel Embiid & Philadelphia 76ers Updates

When that could be is anyone’s guess as it sounds as if Embiid still has some hurdles to get over before he is cleared to return. He also shared that there is no timeline for his return to the court, as they have to see how his body reacts to treatment and rehab once he begins ramping up his activity.

Whether that is with 10 games remaining in the regular season, with one game remaining or at some point in the NBA playoffs, if Embiid is healthy and ready to play, he will be out there. Even if the 76ers are teetering on the brink of elimination, he is going to do everything he can to get back on the court.

That kind of mindset can certainly be appreciated as Embiid is always going to put the team first. He has attempted to battle through several injuries throughout his career, trying to get the 76ers over the hump in the postseason but he has yet to accomplish that.
