After years of ineptitude, the New York Knicks look to have one of the best front offices in the NBA. The group, headed by team president Leon Rose, has helped turn the Knicks from the laughingstock of the league into one of the most respected franchises once again.

A big reason for the turnaround in New York has been Rose’s ability to extract value from every transaction that is made. Almost every button he has pushed has been the right decision, as some questionable free-agent signings have been undone with shrewd moves down the line.

The Knicks’ signing of Jalen Brunson in the 2022 NBA offseason will go down as one of the best signings not only in franchise history but in the history of the league. Brunson has turned himself into a bonafide star in New York, helping lead the bounceback.

He certainly isn’t the only player who has contributed, as Rose has made several excellent signings. Julius Randle in 2019 helped lay the foundation that we see today as the first player to commit to the vision Rose and former general manager Scott Perry put together. The most recent signing was Donte DiVincenzo.

NBA NEWS & RUMORS: Donte DiVincenzo & New York Knicks Updates

DiVincenzo, a first-round pick in the 2018 NBA Draft out of Villanova, has been a consistent two-way performer throughout his career. He has battled some injuries, but when healthy, has been a reliable wing player whether it is off the bench or in the starting lineup.

During the 2023 NBA offseason, the Knicks pinpointed him as the perfect addition to their lineup. They signed him using their full mid-level exception, agreeing to a four-year, $46,870,000 million deal.

It was a huge raise for DiVinenzo, who played the 2022-23 campaign with the Golden State Warriors on a one-year, $4.5 million deal. He parlayed that into his contact with the Knicks, which many people thought was a bit of nepotism because he played collegiately with Brunson and Josh Hart.

Anyone who believed that contract to be a poor one has quickly been proven wrong. Like Brunson before him, DiVincenzo is providing New York with incredible value based on the contract he signed.

He has played in 57 out of 58 games, taking his performance to another level since being inserted into the starting lineup. He must have learned a thing from Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson during his time in Golden State, as he and Brunson have turned into Splash Brothers with the Knicks.

NBA NEWS & RUMORS: Donte DiVincenzo & New York Knicks Updates

DiVincenzo has been on a torrid shooting pace this season. He is currently third in the NBA in 3-pointers made with 177, already setting a new career-high. Curry, Luka Doncic and Thompson round out the top four of that statistic.

Among those four, DiVincenzo has been the most accurate, connecting on 41.7 percent of his attempts. Most importantly, he is doing it at a fraction of the cost. As shared by Tommy Beer on X, DiVincenzo’s salary is about a quarter of Doncic and Thompson, while being about 21 percent of Curry’s.

DiVincenzo is returning remarkable value on his contract for the Knicks. New York’s starting backcourt of him and Brunson are making $37,246,666 combined in the 2023-24 season; Curry, Doncic and Thompson are all making more than that individually.

Rose and the Knicks’ front office deserve a lot of credit for the work they have done constructing this roster. Virtually everyone is providing immense value compared to the contract they signed, as the pieces are fitting together and New York is ascending toward being one of the true contenders in the NBA.
