The New York Knicks learned the hard way who the best team in the NBA is, as they suffered yet another loss to the Boston Celtics. Leaving the question, can the Knicks compete with Boston?
It was another tough night for New York against Boston. In their fourth matchup of the season, the Knicks lost again, as they are now 0-4 against their rival. While the Knicks were short-handed once again, they have still yet to be able to get over the hump against arguably the best team in the Eastern Conference.
For the Celtics, it was a fairly well-balanced attack, as all of their starters were in double figures, with Jalen Brown leading the way with 30 points. The Knicks once again struggled to stop Kristaps Porzingis, as their former big man dropped 22 on them.
The Knicks were missing Julius Randle and OG Anunoby in this game, as they lacked a second star to go along with Jalen Brunson. Anunoby’s defense could have been used against the skilled Celtics stars, whose size made a difference.

While the Knicks might have lost, Brunson continues to prove that he is a true star in the NBA and an MVP candidate. Brunson totaled 34 points and nine assists while going an efficient 12-for-25 from the field. Unfortunately for Brunson, the strong showing didn’t result in the win, as his supporting cast couldn’t get it done against Boston.
This game was a clear indication that if the Knicks are going to be a title contender this season, they will need Randle to be healthy for the playoffs. While his timeline to return seems very vague, there still does seem to be hope that he will be back.
While the depth of the Knicks will help them survive and make the playoffs this season and beat most teams in the NBA, the Knicks currently can’t hang with the cream of the crop in the Eastern Conference. Hopefully, they will start to get healthy soon.
