Building an NBA dynasty is practically impossible. It requires tremendous planning – and incredible luck on top of that. Most NBA fans have never seen their team enjoy a dynastic run.
Even one NBA title is difficult enough to win. You should be satisfied if you’ve witnessed your favorite team accomplish that goal. Only a few years ago, fans of the Toronto Raptors had that satisfaction.
They beat the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals. The Raptors topped a dynasty. With that said, they’ve been crumbling ever since. Now, the Raptors are rebuilding. Could they send Jakob Poeltl to the Warriors this summer?
NBA Trade Proposal
Toronto Raptors Receive: G/F Andrew Wiggins, G/F Moses Moody, 2026 First-Round Pick (Lottery Protected – GSW)
Golden State Warriors Receive: C Jakob Poeltl, F/C Chris Boucher
The Raptors are rebuilding. If there was any question of that, it’s been silenced. The Raptors made it official when they traded Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby throughout the 2023-24 season.
Should the Warriors be doing the same? Yes, this team has been the league’s foremost dynasty for a decade. This year, it looks like that dynasty is falling apart.
NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Jakob Poeltl, Toronto Raptors, Golden State Warriors Updates
Yet, Steph Curry is still performing at an All-NBA level. Meanwhile, the Warriors won a title just a couple of short years ago. It feels like this team could be a move away from getting back to contention. Is this the move?
Why The Golden State Warriors Do The Deal
The Warriors will have to do some soul-searching this summer. Is the dynasty over? Are they a piece away? If so, what type of piece should they be looking for?
A look at this roster reveals the need for an upgrade at the 5. Looney has been a reliable role player for this team for some time, but he’s somewhat undersized. The Warriors could use a primary rim protector who can control the glass.
NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Jakob Poeltl, Toronto Raptors, Golden State Warriors Updates
Poeltl fits that description. He can also survive in space if necessary. Poeltl is also a plus positional passer who should be a perfect fit in the Warriors’ motion system. Should the Raptors part with him?
Why The Toronto Raptors Do The Deal
You may have noticed that Wiggins is Canadian. That’s not a coincidence. The Raptors acquired RJ Barrett and Kelly Olynyk this year. It feels like bringing in players from their country is a priority for them.
Yet, that’s not grounds to move Poeltl on its own. If anything, Wiggins’ contract is problematic. The Raptors may hope to revive his career in his hometown, but that’s not the main point for them in this deal.
NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Jakob Poeltl, Toronto Raptors, Golden State Warriors Updates
The Raptors are doing this deal for Moody and a protected first. Moody is a versatile young player who should complement Scottie Barnes, In time, who knows? He could help the Raptors build a dynasty.
