The Philadelphia 76ers are set to sign Darius Bazley on a 10-day contract ahead of their first game out of the NBA All-Star Break, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Bazley has been showcasing his skills with the 76ers’ G League team, the Delaware Blue Coats, after being released by the Brooklyn Nets before the season started.

In 18 regular-season appearances for the Blue Coats, the 23-year-old has averaged 20.1 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 3.8 assists. His standout moment came recently with a remarkable game where he scored 38 points and grabbed 15 rebounds.

Bazley’s addition aims to bolster the Sixers’ frontcourt, which faces challenges due to Joel Embiid‘s absence for meniscus surgery. Suppose Bazley’s signing is finalized by Thursday. He would be available to play against the New York Knicks and four additional games during his 10-day stint.

Following several trades that opened up roster spots, Philadelphia is under pressure to meet the NBA’s requirement of having a minimum of 14 players on their roster by Thursday. The team previously filled one of these vacancies by signing Kyle Lowry last week.

Drafted in the first round in 2019, Bazley started his NBA journey with Oklahoma City Thunder, where he played for over three seasons before being traded to the Phoenix Suns last year.
