Julius Randle‘s shoulder injury initially sparked concern amid a strong 2023-24 campaign with the New York Knicks. The diagnosis of a dislocated right shoulder was not as severe as feared, leading to a prognosis of the three-time NBA All-Star being re-evaluated after 2-3 weeks.

As per reports from SNY’s Ian Begley, there’s growing optimism and excitement about Randle’s recovery progress. Begley shared on “The Putback with Ian Begley” that Randle’s rehabilitation has been showing positive signs, fueling hopes for his return this season.

“I’ve heard during this period that there’s been some positive progression here during the rehab and I think that’s left people with even more reason to be optimistic that Randle will be back at some point this season,” Begley said. “I don’t know if they’re out of the woods yet, but certainly the progress that he has made over the last couple of weeks during this rehab stretch has left people excited about the possibility of him coming back.”

Thibodeau also noted that Randle is achieving the recovery milestones and is doing well overall, lamenting the timing of the injury given his impressive play.

“We’re already processing what the next things are,” Thibodeau said. “…And the thing that’s unfortunate — he was playing at such a high level when he took on the injury.”

Randle, who has been named an All-Star for the third time in his career, all with the Knicks, was averaging 24 points, 9.2 rebounds, and five assists over 46 games before his injury.
