San Antonio Spurs phenom Victor Wembanyama is only 49 games into his NBA career. There was a lot of pressure on him entering the league as many analysts thought he was the most highly regarded prospect since LeBron James.

There are expectations of him being great right away despite how difficult it can be transitioning to the NBA. But, even the most optimistic of people have to be surprised at just how fast Wembanyama has adjusted to being in the league.

Every night, Wembanyama is doing something on the court that goes viral as a highlight. Whether it is a wild blocked shot, dunking in someone or making an absurd 3-pointer where he showcases his handles, he has turned into a human highlight reel.

The Spurs haven’t found much success this season, as they have the third-fewest wins in the league heading into the All-Star break. Despite that, the team is playing nearly breakeven basketball when Wembanyama is on the court, showcasing just how much of a positive impact he is capable of having.

NBA NEWS & SCORES: Victor Wembanyama, San Antonio Spurs Updates

He is averaging 20.5 points, 10 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.1 steals and 3.2 blocks per game. The blocks are leading the NBA, as rookies don’t normally dominate at that level. Just how impressive is the performance Wembanyama has put forth this season?

According to StatMuse, the last player to average 20+ points, 10+ rebounds and 3+ blocks per game in a season was Shaquille O’Neal. The Hall of Famer also did it in his rookie season with the Orlando Magic and most recently during the 1999-2000 campaign when he won the MVP award with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Anytime you are accomplishing something that only O’Neal has done, you are doing something right. Wembanyama looks the part of a generational prospect and is now producing like one on the court. The outlook for the Spurs is incredible as long as he is part of their future moving forward.
