The NBA trade deadline has come and gone. This was an especially quiet deadline. If you were holding out for a deadline-day blockbuster, you’re feeling disappointed.

That doesn’t mean that there won’t be blockbusters to come. The deadline has passed – so, it’s time to look to the future. We may see our blockbuster trade this summer. It’s time to start looking at stars who could be on the move in the offseason.

We’ll look no further than Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks. He feels like a prime trade candidate if the Hawks don’t turn their season around. Here are three teams that we think should take a look at him.

Los Angeles Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers held at this year’s deadline. They didn’t do anything. Some fans are upset. It’s been a disappointing season for the Lakers. Shouldn’t they have upgraded their roster?

Well, they could be thinking about the summer. LeBron James is still playing at an All-NBA level. The Lakers may want to bring a star on board to play with him. This year, that star didn’t shake loose at the deadline.

Meanwhile, the Lakers won’t have the assets to land the very best players. Young may be affordable. With his defensive shortcomings, his market won’t be as robust as some other stars who could hit the market. With that said, some teams could outbid the Lakers.

Utah Jazz

By contrast, the Jazz did make a deadline deal. They sent Kelly Olynyk to the Toronto Raptors. In return, they received a first-round pick in the upcoming draft.

Will they hold onto that pick? Time will tell. The Jazz have a lot of assets. Eventually, they’ll have to consolidate. Meanwhile, this team has a clear need for a star playmaker.

Why not Young? This feels like a perfect basketball fit. With that said, some stars aren’t keen to land in Salt Lake City. Is there a big market team that could be interested in Young?

Brooklyn Nets

The Los Angeles Lakers have the market, but they don’t have the assets. The Utah Jazz have the assets, but they don’t have the market. Luckily for the Brooklyn Nets, they have both.

What they don’t have is their first-round picks moving forward. The Nets made marginal moves at this year’s deadline, but they’re also likely holding out for the summer. Could they be interested in Young?

They should be. This team is deep with supporting players. The Nets could be a primary playmaker away from title contention. Young could be that guy. Of course, we have to see if he’s available first.
