Report: Raptors Trade Dennis Schroder To Nets For Spencer Dinwiddie

According to NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Toronto Raptors are trading Dennis Schroder to the Brooklyn Nets for Spencer Dinwiddie.

The Nets are also acquiring Thaddeus Young in the trade.

Schroder is averaging 13.7 points, 2.7 rebounds, 6.1 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.2 blocks this season while shooting 44.2% from the field, 35.0% from beyond the arc and 85.2% from the free-throw line. He’s making $12.4 million.

Meanwhile, Dinwiddie is averaging 12.6 points, 3.3 rebounds, 6.0 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.2 blocks while shooting 39.1% overall, 32.0% from 3 and 78.1% from the foul line. He’s making $18.9 million in the final year of his contract.

The Raptors are 18-33 on the season. They are in 12th place in the East. Meanwhile, the Nets are 20-30. They are in 11th place in the East. If the season ended today, both teams would not be in the NBA play-in tournament.

The Raptors are in rebuild mode after trading Pascal Siakam to the Indiana Pacers and OG Anunoby to the New York Knicks. The Nets, meanwhile, are stuck in the middle of the NBA.

Schroder has career averages of 14.0 points, 2.9 rebounds and 4.8 assists with the Atlanta Hawks, Oklahoma City Thunder, Los Angeles Lakers, Boston Celtics, Houston Rockets and Raptors. He’s 30 years old.

Dinwiddie, meanwhile, has career averages of 13.6 points, 3.1 rebounds and 5.3 assists with the Detroit Pistons, Nets, Washington Wizards and Dallas Mavericks. He turns 31 in April.
