It sounds as if the New York Knicks are going to make a deal ahead of the 2024 NBA Trade Deadline. Who they will acquire, however, remains up in the air as they are engaged with several teams.

One of the teams the Knicks have been talking to is the Detroit Pistons. New York has been showing interest in acquiring veterans Alec Burks and Bojan Bogdanovic in a package deal. The Philadelphia 76ers were also linked to Burks, but have opted to go in a different direction.

They acquired Buddy Hield from the Indiana Pacers, as talks with the Pistons did not advance. That opens things up for the Knicks, who have reportedly made an offer to Detroit for their veteran pair.

According to NBATradeReport on X, the Knicks have offered Evan Fournier, Quentin Grimes, Jericho Sims and multiple second-round picks. There has been constant communication between the teams as they have been talking for the past 24 hours.

The Pistons have been very active this deadline, already taking part in two separate deals; one with the Utah Jazz and one with the Minnesota Timberwolves. All in all, they have acquired Simone Fontecchio, Troy Brown Jr. and Shake Milton in exchange for Kevin Knox II and Monte Morris; second-round picks were also swapped.

Trading Burks and Bogdanovic, while their value is high, would make sense. The team wants to do everything it can to avoid setting the NBA record for the worst regular season but knows it is smart long-term to cash in on veteran assets.

New York, who has been hit hard by the injury bug, could really use some reinforcements. Burks has played with the team previously and was a key contributor during their playoff run in 2021. Bogdanovic would provide insurance at the forward spots for Julius Randle and OG Anunoby, who are both dealing with injuries.
