The NBA trade deadline is tomorrow. Fans, temper your expectations. By all accounts, this is not going to be the type of blockbuster-heavy deadline that we’ve grown accustomed to.
After all, it’s a buyer’s market. We aren’t expecting as much movement as usual. Yet, we should still see some significant trades. If one team is likely to go all-in, it may be the Philadelphia 76ers.
General manager Daryl Morey is known to make major moves. It’s being reported that this year will no exception. Morey is expected to add a significant player to the Sixers’ roster at the deadline. How about Bojan Bogdanovic of the Detroit Pistons?
NBA Trade Proposal
Detroit Pistons Receive: F Marcus Morris Sr., 2028 First-Round Pick (LAC via PHI)
Philadelphia 76ers Receive: F Bojan Bogdanovic
The Pistons could make a major move at the deadline as well. They’ve been prominent fixtures in rumors. Meanwhile, they’ve been on both ends of the buyer/seller spectrum.
How can this be? The Pistons are the worst team in the NBA. That was true last year as well. How could the Pistons be buyers? Shouldn’t they be prioritizing their future?
NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Bojan Bogdanovic, Detroit Pistons, Philadelphia 76ers Updates
Perhaps. On the other hand, they may not have a future to prioritize soon. If the Pistons don’t start making strides, their young players could start requesting trades. Should they move Bogdanovic with that in mind?
Why The Detroit Pistons Do The Deal
The Pistons can’t make moves in fear of a Cade Cunningham trade request. That’s how you end up shortchanging your long-term ceiling. This team has talent, even if it isn’t coalescing yet.
Why not look to next season? The Pistons should be aiming to improve again in 2024-25. This season is lost. With that in mind, they might as well flip their best veteran for a valuable asset.
NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Bojan Bogdanovic, Detroit Pistons, Philadelphia 76ers Updates
That’s what they’re doing here. A future first from an aging, injury-prone Clippers team will have remarkable value on the open market. The Pistons could use this asset to acquire a better player than Bogdanovic in the summer. Should the Sixers hang onto the same asset?
Why The Philadelphia 76ers Do The Deal
No. The Sixers have a title window. They should be trying to open it wider. By adding Bogdanovic, they’d be doing exactly that.
He should be exactly what this team needs. The Sixers have their primary offensive option in Joel Embiid. They have an elite second option in Tyrese Maxey. The Sixers simply need a player who can space the floor and create shots when necessary.

That’s who Bogdanovic is. Adding him to a core featuring Embiid, Maxey and Tobias Harris will give the Sixers elite spacing around their two best players. This may be a quiet deadline – but don’t be surprised if the Sixers make some noise.
