Timberwolves Land Kings’ Davion Mitchell In NBA Trade Proposal

Davion Mitchell, Sacramento Kings, NBA Trade Rumors

Raise your hand if you thought the Minnesota Timberwolves would be one of the best teams in the NBA this year. If your hand is raised, ask yourself a question: why do you lie?

Nobody thought the Timberwolves would be here. They were mediocre in 2022-23. It did not appear as if Rudy Gobert and Karl-Anthony Towns could co-exist. Meanwhile, this team didn’t make significant improvements during the offseason. Why should the Timberwolves be any different?

Either way – the Timberwolves look a lot different. This team has gelled. Still, it feels like they could use an injection of backcourt talent if they make a deep playoff run in 2023-24. Could they acquire Davion Mitchell from the Sacramento Kings?

NBA Trade Proposal

Sacramento Kings Receive: F Kyle Anderson

Minnesota Timberwolves Receive: G Davion Mitchell, G/F Chris Duarte

Raise your hand if you thought the Sacramento Kings would be one of the best teams in the NBA last year. OK, you’ve got a problem. You’re a compulsive liar. Do some personal work, and come back to this article.

Jokes aside, the Kings were last year’s Timberwolves. We see a Cinderella story on a near-annual basis. With that said, that regular season glory doesn’t always lead to success in the playoffs.

NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Davion Mitchell, Sacramento Kings, Minnesota Timberwolves Updates

Last year, the Kings were eliminated in the first round. Will the Wolves suffer the same fate in 2023-24? Does adding Mitchell help them avoid that fate?

Why The Minnesota Timberwolves Do The Deal

For the Wolves, this is a simple case of roster construction. They’re stacked in the frontcourt. Outsides of Towns and Gobert, Naz Reid is a borderline starting-caliber player. Meanwhile, Jaden McDaniels is arguably the best defensive wing in the NBA.

On the other hand, this team’s backcourt depth is weak. Anthony Edwards is a star. Mike Conley is defying Father Time as a serviceable starter. Otherwise, the Wolves could use a player who can back Conley up.

Why not Mitchell? His offense is spotty, but he’s a fantastic point-of-attack defender. Meanwhile, adding Duarte’s movement shooting should help the Timberwolves as well. Should the Kings give up two decent guards for Anderson?

Why The Sacramento Kings Do The Deal

This is about roster balance for the Kings as well. De’Aaron Fox is entrenched as the starting point guard. By now, Malik Monk can run some point as well. On the other hand, this team could use a quality defensive wing.

Anderson fits the bill. He’s among the smartest help defenders in the league. Anderson isn’t perfect – he’s a limited athlete. He can’t stop the league’s best players. Still, he’s got a skillset that would make this Kings team better.

After all, he’s not a slouch on offense, either. Anderson provides some floor spacing, and he’s a strong connective passer. This is a quality player. Who knows? He could help the Kings exceed expectations – in the playoffs this time.
