There have been many discussions centered around New York Knicks point guard Jalen Brunson amongst NBA analysts and fans. The fact people are saying things such as he isn’t on the level of LeBron James and Stephen Curry as a 1A player goes to show just how far he has come in such a short amount of time.

Brunson was playing second-fiddle to Luka Doncic on the Dallas Mavericks only two seasons ago. He was starting a breakout campaign, but as long as Doncic was out there, it would always be his team. Seeking a chance to run his own team, Brunson signed a four-year, $106 million deal with the Knicks as a free agent in 2022.

It was a deal many people panned, believing the Knicks had overpaid. Those people have quickly been proven wrong as Brunson has ascended to All-Star and All-NBA levels. That deal is now regarded as a steal by many people around the NBA, as he is outproducing the value of his contract.

NBA NEWS & RUMORS: Jalen Brunson & New York Knicks Updates

If any naysayers remain or people do not believe Brunson is a star talent, his performance to this point in the season should change their minds. Brunson is averaging 26.8 points, 6.5 assists and 3.8 rebounds on 48 percent shooting from the field and 42.2 percent from 3-point range.

Through 46 games, he has accomplished something never done in NBA history. He is the first player to score 1,200+ points with 300+ assists and 100+ 3-pointers on 40+ percent shooting from long range in the history of the league.

If Brunson can keep those numbers up throughout the season, he will make even more NBA history. There has never been a player to average 26+ points, 6+ assists, shoot 42+ percent on 3-pointers and average less than three turnovers per game; he is currently on pace to do that.

NBA NEWS & RUMORS: Jalen Brunson & New York Knicks Updates

This is a truly memorable season that Brunson and the Knicks are in the midst of. It has been a long time since New York had this kind of talent leading their team, as something special is brewing.

While many NBA analysts and fans may not consider Brunson a superstar, he is certainly playing like one for the Knicks. His production is spearheading what has been the best team in the league since the calendar flipped to 2024.
