According to NBA insider Josh Robbins of The Athletic, the Sacramento Kings have coveted Washington Wizards forward Kyle Kuzma for “some time.”
The Kings are interested in acquiring Kuzma from the Wizards this season.
“League sources maintain the Washington Wizards have been holding out for two first-round picks for Kuzma, though team sources indicate that is somewhat overblown,” Robbins wrote. “The truth is probably somewhere in the middle. The Sacramento Kings have coveted Kuzma for some time.”
Kuzma, 28, is averaging 21.9 points, 6.6 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 0.4 steals and 0.7 blocks this season while shooting 45.6% from the floor, 32.9% from beyond the arc and 79.5% from the free-throw line. He’s making $25.6 million.

The Wizards (9-37) signed Kuzma to a four-year, $90 million contract last summer. Given Kuzma’s descending contract, there’s no immediate urgency for the Wizards to part with the swingman. According to NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Wizards don’t want to trade Kuzma.
“Washington has been very reticent with Kyle Kuzma,” Wojnarowski said on his podcast. “People are calling them. Teams tell me they call them and they’re not getting counters from Washington. If you want to register an offer for Kuzma, fine, you can do it. But they’re not at the point now where it seems like they’re really active in maybe seriously trying to move him.”
Kuzma has career averages of 17.0 points, 6.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 0.6 steals and 0.5 blocks with the Los Angeles Lakers and Wizards. He helped the Lakers win the 2020 title over the Miami Heat in six games at the Walt Disney World bubble.
