According to NBA insider Anthony Slater of The Athletic, the Golden State Warriors don’t have to attach a draft pick to trade Andrew Wiggins.

The Warriors have fielded player-for-player trade offers for Wiggins.

“Wiggins profiles as the most likely Warrior to be dealt,” Slater wrote. “He’s on the first season of a four-year, $109 million extension. The Warriors have fielded player-for-player offers for Wiggins, according to team and league sources. They wouldn’t have to attach a draft pick to get off his deal.”

Wiggins is averaging 12.3 points (career-low), 4.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 0.4 steals and 0.5 blocks this season while shooting 43.4% from the field, 31.0% from beyond the arc and 69.5% from the free-throw line. He’s making $24.3 million.

NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Andrew Wiggins, Golden State Warriors Updates

Wiggins signed a four-year, $109 million extension with the Warriors in October 2022 after helping the Dubs win the 2022 NBA championship over the Boston Celtics in six games. For whatever reason, Wiggins has struggled to shoot and score the ball this season.

Wiggins played in just 37 games last season due to a personal matter with his family. He averaged 17.1 points in the regular season and 16.7 points in the playoffs. The Warriors lost to the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2023 Western Conference Semifinals in six games.

This season has been a nightmare for Wiggins, who began his career with the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Warriors are only 19-24 on the season. They are in 12th place in the Western Conference standings.

There has been no mandate from Joe Lacob and the Warriors’ ownership group to shed money despite a record tax bill, per Slater.

NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Andrew Wiggins, Golden State Warriors Updates

According to NBA insider Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, the Dallas Mavericks could have trade interest in Wiggins, who holds career averages of 18.7 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.0 steals and 0.7 blocks with the Timberwolves and Warriors.
