Suns Land Hornets’ Miles Bridges In Bold Trade Idea

The NBA’s trade market is beginning to shape up. As the deadline approaches, we’re already seeing moves. Recently, the Charlotte Hornets sent Terry Rozier to the Miami Heat.

This is a buyer’s market. Rozier is having a career year. He’s scoring with tremendous volume and efficiency.  Yet, the Hornets only received a protected pick and an expiring contract for him. In all likelihood, this deal will set a precedent as the deadline approaches.

That’s unfortunate for the Hornets. They’re going to be sellers. In this market, they may not be able to receive peak value for their players.

Could they send Miles Bridges to the Phoenix Suns anyway?

NBA Trade Proposal: Phoenix Suns Land Charlotte Hornets’ Miles Bridges

Charlotte Hornets Receive: F Nassir Little, F/C Bol Bol, 2026 Second-Round Pick (DET, MIL or ORL via PHX), 2028 Second-Round Pick (MEM via PHX), 2029 Second-Round Pick (PHX via MEM)

Phoenix Suns Receive: F Miles Bridges

A buyer’s market is unfortunate for sellers. Teams who need to rebuild are in a difficult position at this year’s trade deadline. They’re turning towards the future, and because of the market, they’re getting off to a rough start.

With that said, it’s plenty of fun for fans. If you’re a general lover of basketball, this could be an exciting deadline. The league’s best teams are going to get better.

Look at the Heat. This team had limited assets. They were able to bring in a fringe star anyway. Miami is going to be a fun team to watch after the addition of Rozier.

How fun would the Suns be after adding Bridges?

Why The Phoenix Suns Do The Deal

The Suns should be thankful that it’s a buyer’s market. This team went all-in on Bradley Beal this summer, and so far, they haven’t looked like title contenders in 2023-24. The Suns need to buy.

What should they be looking for? They don’t need another guard. The Suns don’t even need another jump shooter. Between Beal, Devin Booker, and Kevin Durant, they’ve got an ample supply of shooting.

How about an athletic wing who can put pressure on the rim and give them a boost in transition? Bridges fits the bill. He’ll give the Suns a new wrinkle in their offense that could vault them into title contention.

Should the Hornets help them take that leap?

Why The Charlotte Hornets Do The Deal

Even in a seller’s market, Bridges’ trade value would be compromised. He’s coming off of an ugly legal situation. Moreover, he’s on an expiring contract.

So, a pair of young players and a trio of second-round picks ought to do. Sure, second-rounders aren’t premium assets. They can still be used to grease the wheels on some trades down the line. The Hornets are getting assets that they can use here.

They’re also getting players. Little is a solid 3-and-D wing – he’s unlikely to reach stardom, but he can be part of this rotation. Bol is the opposite. His ceiling is extremely high even if he’s got a low floor. Still, it’s worth taking a flyer on him for the Hornets – especially in this market.
