NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Andrew Wiggins, Golden State Warriors Updates

Wiggins is struggling this season. He’s averaging a career-low 11.7 points while shooting 41.8% from the floor, 29.8% from beyond the arc and 68.9% from the free-throw line. The one-time All-Star has a plus-minus of -179.

The Warriors signed Wiggins to a four-year, $109 million extension in October 2022. Wiggins is making $24.3 million this season. He helped Golden State win the 2022 NBA championship over the Boston Celtics and was awarded a massive contract extension.

However, it’s been a struggle for Wiggins ever since he signed that new deal. The Kansas product played in only 37 games last season due to a personal matter with his family. Wiggins averaged 17.1 points in the regular season and 16.7 points in the playoffs. The Warriors lost to the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2023 Western Conference Semifinals.

This season has been a nightmare for Wiggins, who was benched by head coach Steve Kerr. Wiggins is averaging 3.7 points over his last three games while shooting 21.1% from the field and 28.6% from 3.

Wiggins has career averages of 18.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.0 steals and 0.7 blocks with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Warriors. According to NBA insider Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports, the Indiana Pacers could have trade interest in Wiggins.

If the season ended today, the Warriors wouldn’t even be in the play-in tournament. Stephen Curry is the only player on the team averaging 20.0 points.
