One NBA writer is proposing that the Memphis Grizzlies acquire DeMar DeRozan from the Chicago Bulls.

Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report proposed the following trade idea between the Grizzlies and Bulls:

The Chicago Bulls trade DeMar DeRozan and Andre Drummond to the Memphis Grizzlies for Luke Kennard, Brandon Clarke, Ziaire Williams, a 2024 first-round pick (lottery-protected) and a 2026 first-round pick (top-three-protected)

Grizzlies superstar point guard Ja Morant will miss the rest of the season due to a shoulder injury. Memphis is last in the NBA in points per game, which is why Buckley believes DeRozan would thrive in Grind City.

“DeRozan could immediately jolt their league-worst offense, while Drummond’s arrival could be hugely helpful for their injury-riddled frontcourt,” Buckley wrote. “This would be a future-focused trade package headed to the Windy City, which is arguably what Chicago should be aiming to acquire.”

NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: DeMar DeRozan, Chicago Bulls, Memphis Grizzlies Updates

The Grizzlies could start Marcus Smart, Desmond Bane, DeRozan, Jaren Jackson Jr. and Drummond if this trade idea happened. That starting lineup could compete for a play-in spot.

DeRozan is averaging 22.1 points, 3.8 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 1.2 steals and 0.7 blocks this season while shooting 46.5% from the field, 34.4% from beyond the arc and 84.3% from the free-throw line. The six-time All-Star remains one of the best scorers in the NBA.

The Grizzlies are in 13th place in the Western Conference standings. Adding a scorer and playmaker like DeRozan would jump-start Memphis’ offense and give the team a proven closer with Morant out.
