3 New Pascal Siakam Trade Proposals For Raptors To Consider

You’re familiar with the name OG Anunoby if you follow NBA trade rumors. For a long time, the Toronto Raptors were said to be considering moving him. Finally, they sent Anunoby to the New York Knicks.

He wasn’t the only forward they’ve allegedly looked at moving on their roster. There was debate over whether the Raptors would trade Anunoby or look to extend him. By contrast, the team has been widely expected to shop the older Pascal Siakam.

Now that Anunoby is gone, the Raptors only have more incentive to move Siakam. This team is heading towards a rebuild, and they should get a substantial return for their star forward.

Here are three fresh trades we think they should consider.

Trade No. 1 – Pascal Siakam To Atlanta Hawks

Toronto Raptors Receive: F De’Andre Hunter, G Patty Mills, G/F AJ Griffin, G Kobe Bufkin, 2024 First-Round Pick (Lottery Protected – SAC via ATL), 2029 First-Round Pick (ATL)

Atlanta Hawks Receive: F/C Pascal Siakam

There was something else that was notable about the Anunoby deal. The Raptors didn’t receive as much draft capital as one might have expected. We’re not saying it was a bad deal. The Raptors did well to acquire RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley for a player on an expiring deal.

Could they continue to prioritize young players? Here, they’re landing some intriguing ones. Hunter is a proven commodity. Griffin could be one of the best shooters in the NBA someday, and Bufkin is intrigued with his versatile skillset.

Meanwhile, they’re still receiving a pair of first-round picks. If the Raptors like the young players in this deal, they should like the trade. Is there another team willing to offer up some young pieces?

Trade No 2. – Pascal Siakam To Indiana Pacers

Toronto Raptors Receive: G/F Buddy Hield, G T.J. McConnell, G/F Bennedict Mathurin, 2025 First-Round Pick (IND), 2027 First-Round Pick (IND)

Indiana Pacers Receive: F/C Pascal Siakam

It’s also worth noting that the Raptors picked up a Canadian in the Anunoby deal. Homegrown products like Barrett are likelier to stick north of the border. Could the Raptors use the same logic in acquiring Mathurin?

Of course, they won’t strictly target national players. Mathurin has flashed potential in his own right. At times, he’s looked like the scorer who can be a star in this league. Throw in a pair of firsts, and this is good value for Siakam.

That doesn’t mean the deal will work on either side. The Raptors may prefer more draft capital, and the Indiana Pacers may feel that they’re too far from contending basketball to give up this much of their future. Is there a contender looking to take the next step?

Trade No. 3 – Pascal Siakam To Oklahoma City Thunder

Toronto Raptors Receive: F Davis Bertans, G/F Luguentz Dort, 2024 First-Round Pick (Top 4 Protected – HOU via OKC), 2025 First-Round Pick (Top 6 Protected – PHI via OKC), 2027 First-Round Pick (OKC)

Oklahoma City Thunder Receive: F/C Pascal Siakam

Again – the Raptors didn’t get much draft capital for Anunoby. They could compensate by sending Siakam to the Oklahoma City Thunder. After all, they’ve got more than enough draft capital to spare.

They also have a lot of incentive to improve. The Thunder look like a bonafide title contender already this year. They could be one of the league’s title favorites if they wanted to consolidate their assets to acquire an elite two-way wing.

By contrast, if they make this deal, the Raptors won’t be title favorites for some time. That’s fine with a young core featuring Barrett, Quickley, and Scottie Barnes. They’ll have a bright future. Now, we know it won’t feature OG Anunoby.
