The Atlanta Hawks are reportedly poised to actively engage in trades as the NBA deadline approaches, focusing on reshaping the team around Trae Young and Jalen Johnson.
NBA insider Marc Stein has revealed that the Hawks, under the guidance of new coach Quin Snyder, are open to trading several key players to facilitate this new direction. Stein’s report indicates that players such as Dejounte Murray, De’Andre Hunter, and Clint Capela are potentially available for trade.
“Atlanta is determined to, as one source described it, ‘build around Trae and Jalen Johnson’ going forward under new coach Quin Snyder,” Stein wrote. “Which means [Dejounte] Murray, De’Andre Hunter, and Clint Capela, most notably, are all available in potential trades … and with sharpshooter Bogdan Bogdanovic expected to generate as much external interest as any current Hawk.”
This strategy aligns with the Hawks’ goal of centering their future team composition around Young and Johnson. The report also suggests that Bogdan Bogdanovic is expected to attract considerable interest from other teams.

It’s important to note that multiple sources have told NBA Analysis Network the Hawks want to “move off of” the contracts of Capela and Hunter. As Stein reported, Bogdanovic could be moved as well, but the motivation is more significant to move on from the other veteran options.
At 31 years old, Bogdanovic has been performing notably in the 2023-24 season, with an average of 17.7 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.7 assists over 31 games, including two starts.
