Golden State Warriors guard Chris Paul underwent a surgical procedure to mend a fracture in his left hand ahead of the NBA trade deadline. As a result, he is anticipated to be sidelined for approximately four to six weeks, according to ESPN.

“After undergoing surgery to repair a fracture in his left hand this week, Golden State Warriors guard Chris Paul is expected to miss four-to-six weeks, sources told ESPN on Sunday,” Wojnarowski wrote.

Paul sustained the injury during a win against the Detroit Pistons on Friday night. Fortunately, an upcoming eight-day All-Star break in five weeks may help reduce the impact of his absence on the season’s schedule.

Throughout his 19-year career, Paul has undergone a total of eleven surgeries, with five on his left hand and six on his right. His temporary leave from the team coincides with the end of Draymond Green’s suspension. As ESPN reported, Green is expected to rejoin the team’s active roster soon, possibly next week.

“In his 19 seasons, Paul has had five surgeries to his left hand and six to his right,” Wojnarowski wrote. “His departure comes after Draymond Green’s suspension ends. Green is expected to return to game action sometime next week, sources said.”

In light of Paul’s absence, rookie guard Brandon Podziemski will likely see increased playing time for the Warriors. The team holds a 17-18 record and is positioned 10th in the Western Conference.
