The Golden State Warriors are a “dark horse” team to acquire Pascal Siakam from the Toronto Raptors, according to NBA insider Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report.

The Raptors are expected to trade Siakam before the trade deadline in February.

“Pascal Siakam, I was told, could end up being on the Golden State Warriors radar,” Haynes said. “Not saying that’s happening now, but that’s something to keep in mind on when you’re talking about a dark horse.”

Siakam has been linked to the Warriors, Sacramento Kings, Indiana Pacers, Atlanta Hawks and Detroit Pistons. The NBA star becomes an unrestricted free agent after this season.

Any team that trades for Siakam this season can only offer him a two-year extension. Siakam, if he’s traded by the Raptors, is doubtful to sign an extension, according to NBA insider Marc Stein.

Siakam is making $37.9 million this season. The forward signed a four-year, $136.9 million contract with the Raptors in October 2019. Siakam doesn’t possess a no-trade clause in his contract.

A two-time All-Star, Siakam is averaging 22.4 points, 6.6 rebounds, 4.9 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.2 blocks this season while shooting 52.1% from the field, 28.8% from beyond the arc and 75.1% from the free-throw line.

The Warriors are 17-18 on the season. They are in 10th place in the Western Conference standings.
