According to NBA insider Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports, agents of Los Angeles Lakers players have called the front office to complain about head coach Darvin Ham.

NBA insiders Shams Charania and Jovan Buha of The Athletic reported earlier in the week that there’s a deepening disconnect between Ham and the Lakers locker room.

“I think this is the tip of the iceberg of this guy being legitimately on the hot seat right now,” Fischer said on a recent episode of the No Cap Room Podcast. “There’s just a lot of chatter from people around the organization that he’s not the guy that’s going to be able to get this thing over the hump. Now look, they were able to overcome a 2-10 start last season to make the Western Conference Finals. So he’s proven the ability to right a ship and steer them out of stormy waters to some beautiful island somewhere else in the postseason picture. But the noise is very loud. There’s a lot of people very frustrated. A lot of agents calling the front office frustrated about their guys not getting the right opportunities.”

NBA NEWS & RUMORS: Darvin Ham, Los Angeles Lakers Updates

Ham raised eyebrows in the Lakers organization when he started LeBron James, Cam Reddish, Taurean Prince, Jarred Vanderbilt and Anthony Davis on December 23 against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Lakers made the Western Conference Finals last season by starting D’Angelo Russell, Austin Reaves, Vanderbilt, LeBron and Davis, but Ham hasn’t started a game with that lineup this season.

If the Lakers fire Ham, Phil Handy could replace him, according to NBA insider Sam Amick of The Athletic. Handy won the 2016 title with LeBron as an assistant coach on the Cleveland Cavaliers. He also won the 2019 championship with Kawhi Leonard as an assistant coach on the Toronto Raptors.

The Lakers are a walking disaster right now. They are 3-10 since winning the In-Season Tournament in Las Vegas and are now 17-19 on the season.

The Lakers are 20th in the NBA in points per game and 16th in points per game allowed under Ham.
