The Philadelphia 76ers and Los Angeles Lakers are interested in trading for Atlanta Hawks guard Dejounte Murray, according to NBA insider Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report.
The Hawks have made Murray available in trade talks. The Washington product is making $17.7 million this season. He signed a four-year, $114 million extension with the Hawks in July. The extension kicks in next season.
The Sixers are 23-10 on the season. They are in third place in the Eastern Conference standings. Meanwhile, the Lakers are 17-18. They are in 10th place in the Western Conference standings.
Murray has the same agent (Rich Paul of Klutch Sports Group) as Lakers stars LeBron James and Anthony Davis. The former San Antonio Spurs guard is averaging 20.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 1.5 steals and 0.3 blocks this season while shooting 46.0% from the floor, 38.3% from beyond the arc and 82.5% from the free-throw line.
NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Dejounte Murray, Atlanta Hawks, Los Angeles Lakers, Philadelphia 76ers, Updates
The Lakers desperately need to make a trade to save their season. They are 3-9 since winning the In-Season Tournament in Las Vegas.
Since Murray, LeBron and Davis have the same agent, many people around the NBA believe the Lakers will find a way to acquire Murray. However, Haynes thinks Los Angeles may have trouble trading for the Hawks star.
“As for the Los Angeles Lakers, player of interest as well for them, Dejounte Murray. But, any type of deal centered around Dejounte Murray, it would have to be Austin Reaves,” Haynes said. “You would think Austin Reaves would be a part of that. Rui Hachimura would probably be in it. And for Atlanta, that just wouldn’t be enough. It wouldn’t be enough. So, Lakers, they have interest, but the problem with the Lakers is they need more pieces that’s gonna be attractive for the Atlanta Hawks.”
