One NBA writer is proposing that the Miami Heat acquire Trae Young from the Atlanta Hawks.

Ishaan Bhattacharya of Fadeaway World proposed the following trade idea between the Heat, Hawks and Los Angeles Lakers:

Atlanta Hawks Receive: Tyler Herro, Duncan Robinson, D’Angelo Russell, Rui Hachimura, Nikola Jovic, 2028 First-Round Pick (MIA), 2029 First-Round Pick (LAL), 2030 First-Round Pick (MIA)

Los Angeles Lakers Receive: Dejounte Murray, Bogdan Bogdanovic

Miami Heat Receive: Trae Young

The Hawks are only 14-19 on the season. They are in 10th place in the Eastern Conference standings. Some NBA execs believe Atlanta needs to rebuild by trading Young and Murray and Bhattacharya thinks the Heat would greatly benefit from adding Young.

One of the top players in the NBA, Young is averaging 28.2 points, 3.1 rebounds and 11.3 assists this season while shooting 43.7% from the field, 38.0% from beyond the arc and 86.2% from the free-throw line. The two-time All-Star is seventh in the league in total points, seventh in points per game, second in total assists and second in assists per game.

NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Trae Young, Atlanta Hawks, Miami Heat Updates

The Heat could start Young, Josh Richardson, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo if Miami’s front office figured out a path to acquire Young from Atlanta.

Young, 25, is making $40.1 million this season. The Oklahoma product signed a five-year, $215.2 million extension with the Hawks in August 2021.

The Heat are 20-14 on the season. They are in fourth place in the Eastern Conference standings. Young could be the missing piece to a championship in Miami. The Texas native is an elite scorer, passer and playmaker. He would make the Heat’s offense more dynamic and explosive.
