Joel Embiid made a stellar comeback from his ankle injury, scoring 31 points, grabbing 15 rebounds, and providing 10 assists. During Tuesday’s NBA action, he led the Philadelphia 76ers to a 110-97 win over the Chicago Bulls. Tyrese Maxey also played a key role, contributing 21 points to the Tuesday night triumph.

Despite concerns about his fitness level, coach Nick Nurse observed that Embiid moved well on the court, suggesting the game benefited his reconditioning. Embiid’s absence was felt during the 76ers’ holiday road trip, where the team had a mixed record of 2-2, including a loss to the Bulls just a few days prior.

“He was moving great. I think his conditioning was less than that,” Nurse said. “But that’s OK. I think that game was good for him to kind of recondition himself.”

Embiid’s return was a game-changer, transforming the match into a one-sided affair against a Bulls team lacking their injured guard Zach LaVine. Philadelphia quickly established a lead, ending the first quarter with a 43-18 advantage, as the Bulls failed to score from the three-point line.

DeMar DeRozan led the Bulls with 16 points, and Andre Drummond had a notable performance with 11 points and 17 rebounds. However, it was an uphill battle for the Bulls, particularly with Patrick Williams leaving due to an ankle injury.

The 76ers have demonstrated their strength at home games, consistently achieving significant leads and maintaining them, as seen in their recent convincing victories.

Embiid, who achieved his seventh career triple-double, could rest in the fourth quarter, having already extended his franchise records for scoring. He remains committed to playing as often as possible despite missing previous games.

“I want to play as many games as possible,” Embiid said. “It’s unfortunate I missed the past four games but I can’t control it. If I’m healthy, my goal was to try and play 82 games. Every single game. Sometimes, it’s not just possible. Sometimes, stuff happens.”

The Sixers’ exceptional shooting contributed to their halftime lead, especially in the early stages. Kelly Oubre Jr. also performed an impressive performance, scoring 16 points by halftime.

Embiid’s agility and skill were on full display, showing no signs of being hampered by his ankle injury. He even achieved a triple-double with a spectacular no-look pass.

Bulls coach Billy Donovan acknowledged the challenge of playing against a team led by Embiid, emphasizing the need for a collective defensive effort.

“I think it’s two different teams,” Donovan said. “You’ve not going to play him 1-on-1. You’ve going to play him with five people at all times.”

Looking forward, the Bulls and 76ers will face the New York Knicks in their upcoming matchups.
