The Toronto Raptors began what many people around the NBA and in the basketball world have been waiting for; their roster shakeup. Over the weekend, they completed a blockbuster trade with the New York Knicks that will change the course of their franchise.

Toronto acquired guard Immanuel Quickley and wing RJ Barrett, along with a 2024 second-round pick via the Detroit Pistons, in exchange for forward OG Anunoby, big man Precious Achiuwa and point guard Malachi Flynn.

Anunoby, who is heading toward free agency, has been involved in trade rumors for a long time. Many people wondered whether he would be part of their long-term plans in Toronto and now we have that answer. Quickley, who is entering restricted free agency himself, will be part of a new core moving forward along with Scottie Barnes, Barrett, who signed an extension this offseason, and Jakob Poeltl.

But, the Raptors may not be done making deals. Along with Anunoby, power forward Pascal Siakam has been involved in plenty of NBA rumors. Also on an expiring contract and set to hit unrestricted free agency, he could look for a change of scenery in the summer as well.

One team that could emerge as a trade suitor is the Dallas Mavericks. According to Jake Weinbach via Legion Hoops on X, the Mavericks could offer the Raptors a package built around Tim Hardaway Jr., Josh Green and draft picks in exchange for Siakam.

After snagging a player of Quickley’s caliber and upside, it would be surprising if that is the kind of deal the Raptors accept for Siakam. If the draft picks are multiple first-rounders, the value of that trade package increases exponentially. Even Dallas first-round picks, which would likely land in the 20s, still have value for a team heading into a bit of a rebuild.

NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Pascal Siakam, Tim Hardaway Jr., Toronto Raptors, Dallas Mavericks Updates

Green hasn’t developed much with the Mavericks, as he is in his fourth season in the NBA. Hardaway Jr. is a solid option as a sixth man, but he is under contract through 2025 and the Raptors already have a player with a similar skill set in Gary Trent Jr. filling the scoring role off the bench.

Unless the Mavericks overwhelm the Raptors with draft compensation, that package won’t be enough to get a deal done. Other teams who have shown interest in Siakam can offer a stronger package of players that would trump that offer from Dallas.
