Stephen Curry’s NBA season-high eight 3-pointers and 30 points, paired with seven assists, led the Golden State Warriors to a 129-118 victory over the Washington Wizards, allowing the starters some much-needed rest with another game approaching quickly.

Former Warrior Jordan Poole, now with the Wizards after a draft day trade for Chris Paul, returned to Chase Center and scored 25 points on 7-21 shooting. Despite struggling with his 3-point shooting, Poole’s return was highlighted with a tribute video, earning praise from Warriors coach Steve Kerr for his contributions to the team and championship success.

“It was wonderful. The video and ovation Jordan got to me was the highlight of the game,” Kerr said. “So well deserved for what he did for our organization and for our fans and players and coaches, just the work that he put in and obviously becoming a key member of the championship team. Jordan deserved that ovation. It was wonderful to see.”

Curry and Poole shared a warm pre-game reunion, with Poole also reconnecting with former teammates and Warriors staff. Poole opened the scoring with a jumper but then faced a shooting slump, missing his next five shots before finding the net again in the second quarter.

Curry overcame an initial slow start, firing up in the second quarter with multiple three-pointers and an 11-point run. Frustrated with a non-call, he received a technical foul, his second of the season.

“Playing tomorrow at 5:30 we were really hoping not to have to put Steph back in and he heard me at the beginning of the fourth quarter,” Kerr said. “I said to the other coaches it would be great to not have to put Steph back in and he kind of poked in the huddle and said, ‘No, I want to play.’ That’s who Steph is, he always wants to be out there. It was good, nobody played more than 29 minutes.”

Jonathan Kuminga delivered an impressive performance with 22 points on 9-11 shooting, helping the Warriors secure their eighth consecutive home win as he continues to fill in for the suspended Draymond Green. Klay Thompson contributed 20 points, including four 3-pointers.

The Wizards, wrapping up a four-game West Coast trip, saw contributions from Corey Kispert with 18 points and Daniel Gafford with 15 points. However, their road struggles continued, dropping to 3-15 away from home.

Rookie Brandin Podziemski made a notable return for Golden State with 10 points, seven rebounds, and five assists, bouncing back from lower back soreness. The Warriors were without Andrew Wiggins due to illness. Golden State’s rookie Trayce Jackson-Davis had a standout game, hitting his first three shots and finishing with 10 points and a season-high 15 rebounds.

Looking ahead, the Wizards will host the Orlando Magic, while the Warriors face the Portland Trail Blazers in back-to-back home games.
