One NBA writer is proposing that the Miami Heat acquire DeMar DeRozan and Alex Caruso from the Chicago Bulls.

Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report proposed the following trade idea between the Bulls and Heat:

The Chicago Bulls trade DeMar DeRozan and Alex Caruso to the Miami Heat for Kyle Lowry, Nikola Jović, a 2028 first-round pick and a 2029 first-round pick swap

The Heat are interested in acquiring DeRozan and Caruso from the Bulls, multiple sources told NBA Analysis Network. After failing to get Damian Lillard and Jrue Holiday in the offseason, Miami president Pat Riley has an opportunity to make a blockbuster trade with Chicago.

The Heat could start Caruso, Tyler Herro, DeRozan, Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo if Miami’s front office figured out a way to acquire Caruso and DeRozan from Chicago.

“The Heat haven’t reeled in a whale in a while, and they could feel urgency to act with Butler now on the wrong side of his 34th birthday,” Buckley wrote in his NBA trade proposal. “This swap would cost some of their top trade assets, but it could be worth it to gain DeRozan’s inside-the-arc offensive prowess and Caruso’s tenacious point-of-attack defense. This could be the trade that puts the Heat, who are 14th in both offensive and defensive efficiency, on the championship track.”

DeRozan is averaging 22.3 points, 3.7 rebounds and 5.4 assists this season while shooting 45.6% from the field, 35.6% from beyond the arc and 82.7% from the free-throw line. The six-time All-Star remains one of the top scorers in the NBA.

Meanwhile, Caruso is averaging 9.5 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.3 steals and 0.8 blocks while shooting 55.3% from the floor, 46.8% from 3 and 76.5% from the foul line. The former Los Angeles Lakers guard is one of the best defenders in the NBA.
