Buddy Hield’s 25-point performance and rising NBA star Tyrese Haliburton’s double-double of 19 points and 13 assists propelled the Indiana Pacers to a dominant 144-113 victory over the Charlotte Hornets, ending their four-game skid.

The Pacers’ impressive 61% field goal shooting was a critical factor in their win during the NBA’s Wednesday night action. Haliburton reflected on the team’s improved offense, attributing their success to a return to fundamental practices.

“Our offense looked better,” Haliburton said. “We got a lot of good looks. I thought we went back to the basics on a lot of stuff (in practice), and it helped. A good win for us. Just figured out a way to win.”

Hield said the victory was a significant morale booster for the team, who acknowledged their challenges and the upcoming game against Memphis.

“Winning cures a lot,” Hield said. “Everybody’s relieved. Coming off the high of the in-season tournament, we rode the storm (out). (Thursday night at Memphis) we have another storm to weather. Ja Morant is back.”

Indiana scored well-distributed, with Aaron Nesmith contributing 19 points, Myles Turner added 18, and several other players scoring in double figures. The Pacers also excelled at free throws, making 28 of 30 attempts.

For the Hornets, Terry Rozier matched Hield’s 25 points, adding nine rebounds and seven assists. Rookie Brandon Miller also made a notable contribution with 21 points. However, Charlotte’s overall shooting lagged at 47%, and they struggled from beyond the arc with only eight 3-pointers compared to Indiana’s 18.

The Hornets’ difficulties were compounded by the absence of key players LaMelo Ball and Mark Williams due to injuries. Ball’s offensive production was particularly missed, as he was sidelined as he continues to recover from injury.

The Pacers maintained a steady lead throughout the game, starting with a narrow edge in the first quarter and extending it significantly by the final period. Faced with these challenges, the Hornets couldn’t gain a lead of more than two points at any time.
