The Chicago Bulls are 7-3 over their last 10 games and star shooting guard DeMar DeRozan knows why the team has turned things around.

The Bulls are moving the ball much more on offense now, with DeRozan averaging 6.8 assists over his last 10 games.

“I’m just reading the defense,” DeRozan said. “Every single night, understanding I’m going to get the best defender, the best game plan on me. And figuring out ways through that, how I can help my teammates get involved and make my job easier. And it’s been working for us.”

The Bulls improved to 12-17 on the season after beating the Los Angeles Lakers last night. Chicago had 25 assists, with DeRozan racking up nine.

“That’s how we’ve got to play,” DeRozan said. “Not being predictable. Understanding that we’ve got a group of guys that can go out there, play the right way, score, and it’s hard to guard us when we play that way. So it’s just us having the confidence in one another no matter who is shooting the ball.”

DeRozan put up 27 points, seven rebounds and nine assists against the Lakers while shooting 12-of-16 from the field and 3-of-3 from the free-throw line. The six-time All-Star is now averaging 22.4 points, 3.7 rebounds and 5.4 assists on the season.

The Bulls have played better on offense without Zach LaVine, who is out with a foot injury, but DeRozan still views LaVine as a valuable asset.

“With Zach, that’s another threat that brings a whole different type of attention that you’ve got to pay attention to,” DeRozan said.
