Regarding NBA players, it’s not difficult to write about Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors. It isn’t a question of what to write – it’s a question of where to begin.

Green is one of the most influential players in the modern NBA. When the Warriors opted to shift him from the 4 to the 5 for spells, they changed basketball.

Green would usher in an era of small ball. That’s an impressive feat for a player who was selected in the second round of the NBA draft.

With that said, we’ve also got to touch on Green’s overly physical play. He’s developed a habit of getting suspended. Perhaps that’s why some have suggested that the Warriors could trade him.

Here are three teams that we think should take a look at him.

Green’s contribution to small ball isn’t the only reason he’ll be in the history books. He’s also one of the best defensive players that we’ve ever seen. So, shouldn’t a team that needs defense make a move for him?

If so, the Sacramento Kings could be an interesting landing spot. This team has a dynamic offense, but they struggle to prevent points. Green would be helpful.

Moreover, in the playoffs, the Kings could run him at the 5 when Domantas Sabonis is struggling with a matchup. The Kings could replicate some of Sabonis’ playmaking in those lineups while maintaining a much better defense.

This feels like a perfect fit. The Kings need defense, and Green is one of the best defenders in league history. Is there another team in need of Green’s defensive prowess?

Indiana Pacers

The Sacramento Kings may need defense. The Indiana Pacers need it more badly. This team has the best offense in the NBA – and the worst defense.

Perhaps that’s why they’ve been frequently linked to defensive wings. The Pacers have been said to be interested in Pascal Siakam, O.G. Anunoby, and others. From a pure fit perspective, Green should be better than either.

He won’t cost the same arm and a leg, either. Green’s recent indefinite suspension has likely hurt his leaguewide perception. The Pacers won’t have to give up a haul of draft capital to land him.

Is there another team who could exploit this buy-low opportunity?

Dallas Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks don’t have much left in the way of assets. Sure, they could cobble together what they have and make a bigger splash. With that said, landing an impact player and hanging onto those assets would have to be tempting.

If they acquire Green, that’s exactly what they’d be doing. Moreover, Green isn’t strictly a defender. He’s a fantastic playmaker, spacing the floor consistently in 2023-24. This is a player who will add a wrinkle to a team’s offense.

The Mavericks could use that as well. After Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, this team is light on dynamic offensive players. Green would be a meaningful addition to Dallas, or any team that acquires him. What more can we say about him?
