Super teams have been a longstanding phenomenon in the NBA, but the current season presents a notable shift, with a scarcity of such alliances and an emergence of formidable duos. The Los Angeles Clippers are certainly a team that fall into that category.

NBA icon Carmelo Anthony, in a recent episode of Wave Sports + Entertainment Original on YouTube titled “7PM in Brooklyn,” identified the Clippers as the sole super team in the league.

“To me, [Team] USA was a super team… [The] ’04 Lakers [were] a super team. Even though they didn’t pan out, they [were] a super team on paper…Anything more than two or three is a super team…there only is one super team in the NBA and that’s the Clippers because of what they have…you got four of the best players of all time in NBA history on one team… There are no duos – PG [Paul George], Kawhi [Leonard]; Russ[ell Westbrook], and James [Harden]… So, that’s the only super team, I think.”

Anthony shared his perspective on the super team landscape, defining any team boasting three to four players of superstar caliber as meeting the criteria. In line with this criterion, he singled out the Clippers as the lone franchise currently fitting this description.

Carmelo Anthony’s insights into NBA super teams are intriguing, particularly as he challenges the notion that the LeBron James-led Miami Heat qualified for such status. Nevertheless, Anthony maintains that the Clippers are the only team aligning with his expectations at present.

While the Clippers faced a sluggish start to the season, the quartet of Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, Russell Westbrook, and James Harden is gradually finding synergy. The team is presently enjoying a three-game winning streak, showcasing the potential to make significant waves in the competitive Western Conference.

NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Carmelo Anthony, NBA & Los Angeles Clippers Updates

Traditionally, super teams are considered frontrunners for the championship. Although the Clippers have a substantial journey ahead before reaching that pinnacle, Carmelo Anthony’s assertion raises a valid point. It’s challenging to identify another NBA team in the current landscape that boasts such an array of marquee stars on its roster.
