One NBA writer is proposing that the Golden State Warriors acquire Pascal Siakam from the Toronto Raptors and Isaiah Hartenstein from the New York Knicks.

Andy Bailey of Bleacher Report proposed the following trade idea between the Warriors, Raptors and Knicks:

Warriors Receive: Pascal Siakam and Isaiah Hartenstein

Raptors Receive: Andrew Wiggins, Evan Fournier, Jonathan Kuminga, Quentin Grimes, a 2024 first-round pick from New York, a 2028 first-round pick from New York and a 2028 first-round pick from Golden State

Knicks Receive: OG Anunoby, Moses Moody, Gary Payton II

The Warriors could start Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Siakam, Draymond Green and Kevin Looney if Golden State’s front office figured out a path to acquire Siakam from Toronto. Head coach Steve Kerr would likely bring Hartenstein off the bench.

Siakam is averaging 20.7 points, 6.8 rebounds and 4.9 assists this season while shooting 49.7% from the field, 21.2% from beyond the arc and 75.0% from the free-throw line. The NBA champion is in the final year of his contract and most people around the league expect the Raptors to trade him before the February trade deadline.

“His rebounding rate is higher, and his assist rate is much higher. And while he’s struggled to score efficiently for much of his career, the same could be said for Wiggins,” Bailey wrote in his NBA trade proposal. “When surrounded by the shooting of Curry and Thompson, or when being set up by Chris Paul, it wouldn’t be at all surprising to see Siakam’s shooting marks bounce back to 2018-19 levels, when he played with Kawhi Leonard.”

Meanwhile, Hartenstein is averaging 5.6 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists while shooting 56.3% from the floor, 33.3% from 3 and 66.7% from the foul line.

“As for Isaiah Hartenstein, he’s far from just a throw-in here,” Bailey wrote in his NBA trade proposal. “Right now, Golden State is just flat-out small. Even starting 5 Kevon Looney is only 6’9″. Hartenstein is only 25 years old, and he’s a legitimate 7-footer. He puts in effort as a rim protector, is a ball-hawk and even flashed some playmaking chops in 2021-22 (when he averaged 4.8 assists per 75 possessions).”

The Warriors don’t look like title contenders right now, which is why several NBA execs believe a trade needs to happen.
