Phoenix Suns shooting guard Bradley Beal has been sidelined since November 10 because of what the team called a “low back strain,” an injury described as nerve irritation stemming from a disc issue in his back, according to NBA insider Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Beal used the past few weeks to rehab and stabilize his back. The All-Star plans to play on December 12 against the Golden State Warriors.

Beal has only appeared in three games this season. He’s averaging 17.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists while shooting 39.1% from the floor, 33.3% from beyond the arc and 68.8% from the foul line.

The Suns are 1-2 with Beal in the lineup and 12-10 overall on the season. The Warriors game will be the first time Beal, Devin Booker and Kevin Durant will be on the court together at the same time.

The Suns acquired Beal from the Washington Wizards this past offseason in a massive trade involving Chris Paul and Landry Shamet. Beal is making $46.7 million this season. The veteran signed a five-year, $251 million contract with the Wizards in June 2022.

“Not having our ‘Big 3’ to start the [season] is very tough,” Beal wrote in a diary post for Andscape. “Everybody has their own expectations of what we can be and we have ours as well. We all pride ourselves on taking care of our bodies and being available. Devin and I, we haven’t even gotten the good end of the stick.”
