Boston Celtics star Kristaps Porzingis spoke to JJ Redick about why things didn’t work out with Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks.

The Mavericks traded for Porzingis in January 2019 and many people assumed that Porzingis and Doncic would be a dominant duo for the next decade.

However, Porzingis only played in 134 games with the Mavericks before getting traded to the Washington Wizards in February 2022.

Porzingis averaged 20.0 points, 8.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 0.6 steals and 1.7 blocks with the Mavericks while shooting 44.8% from the field, 34.5% from beyond the arc and 83.1% from the free-throw line. Dallas went 77-57 with Porzingis in the lineup during the regular season.

The former New York Knicks star is averaging 18.9 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 0.7 steals and 1.7 blocks this season while shooting 54.7% from the field, 32.4% from beyond the arc and 80.0% from the free-throw line.
