The Los Angeles Lakers are interested in acquiring Alex Caruso from the Chicago Bulls and one NBA writer has figured out a way for that to happen.

Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report proposed the following trade idea between the Lakers and Bulls:

Los Angeles Lakers Receive: G Alex Caruso, F Torrey Craig

Chicago Bulls Receive: PG Gabe Vincent, SG Jalen Hood-Schifino, 2024 second-round pick

This trade can’t be completed until December 15 since Craig and Vincent signed new contracts this past offseason.

Caruso, who began his career with the Lakers, is one of the best defenders in the NBA and he is expected to draw plenty of trade interest around the league.

NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Alex Caruso, Los Angeles Lakers, Chicago Bulls Updates

“Caruso would be a perfect fit with this current group in L.A., one that ranks near the bottom of the NBA in nearly every three-point shooting category,” Swartz wrote. “The 29-year-old Caruso is connecting on 47.7 percent of his threes this season, good for fourth-highest in the NBA. The Lakers, on the other hand, rank dead last in made threes per game (9.9) and 29th overall in efficiency (33.7 percent).”

Caruso is averaging 9.7 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.4 steals this season while shooting 54.0% from the field, 47.7% from beyond the arc and 77.8% from the free-throw line. The All-NBA defender helped the Lakers win the 2020 championship over the Miami Heat at the Walt Disney World bubble.

Members of the Lakers are still upset they didn’t offer Caruso enough money in the offseason of 2021 to keep him. Caruso signed a four-year, $37 million contract with the Bulls in August 2021.

The Lakers, who have championship aspirations with LeBron James and Anthony Davis leading the way, need more shooters and defenders, which is why general manager Rob Pelinka should do whatever it takes to acquire Caruso.
