How NBA Fan Tragically Died At Kings-Pelicans Game

A fan experienced a medical emergency and died during the Sacramento Kings’ NBA home game against the New Orleans Pelicans on December 4 at Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California.

“During the first quarter of the Kings vs. Pelicans game, a guest had a medical emergency,” the Kings said in a statement. “EMS immediately responded and administered CPR. Tragically, these efforts were unsuccessful and the guest passed away. The organization offers its deepest condolences to the guest’s family and loved ones.”

According to the Sacramento Metro Fire Department, the victim was a man in his 30s. Kings star Keegan Murray said after the game that the team wasn’t aware of the situation.

“As a team, we give our condolences,” Murray said after the Kings lost to the Pelicans by a final score of 127-117. “Hopefully, the family is being taken care of.”

Kings shooting guard Malik Monk also sent condolences to the victim’s family:

The Sacramento Fire Department told CNN that an ambulance crew was notified that a man in his 30s was unresponsive during the game between the Kings and Pelicans.

“A Fire Engine was added to the call for additional personnel to assist with treatment,” the fire department said in a statement. “After performing CPR on this individual, he was pronounced deceased on scene. Our crews remained on scene until the coroner arrived to transport the body.”
