After a win against the San Antonio Spurs, Klay Thompson and a reporter discussed his play this NBA season.
With the NBA season about a quarter done already, we have seen some teams get off to slow starts in the early part of the season. One of those teams is the Golden State Warriors.
The Warriors have been one of the most successful franchises in the NBA over the last decade with Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green anchoring the team. However, the Warriors are off to a slow start this season, and many people are starting to point the finger at Thompson.
After a recent game against the Spurs, Thompson was asked about moving to the bench. As expected for the future Hall-of-Famer, his response didn’t favor it.
“You want to bench me,” Thompson retorted when a reporter touched the sensitive topic. “Do you want to bench [Andrew Wiggins]? You want to bench us? OK. You could suggest it, that’s fine. But, ‘Thanks, Steve,’ I guess. Like, I don’t know. Sometimes you earn things like patience and time to find yourself. I think history is on our side when it comes to that stuff.”

For Thompson, he has remarkably been able to get back on the court after a few major leg injuries. However, at 33 years old now with said injuries, one has to wonder if Klay is going to be continuing to slow down.
So far this season, Thompson is averaging 15.3 points while shooting 40.3 percent from the field and 36.4 percent from three-point range. These numbers are down significantly for Thompson, and while it is early in the season, there are legitimate reasons to be concerned because of his age and injury history.

Thompson has been over 15 points per game in his last five, which is a good sign for the talented shooter, but the Warriors do need him to be better to help turn the season around.
