New York Knicks guard Josh Hart is averaging a career-low 7.1 points this season and the 28-year-old recently admitted that he doesn’t feel “included” in the offense.
“I’m a rhythm player,” Hart said, via The Athletic. “I’m not someone that’s just a catch-and-shoot 3-point shooter, that just only does that. That’s not what I know. … I’m more someone who can get in the lane and find guys and stuff like that, and I’m capable of making shots. When you don’t have a rhythm like that or you don’t feel included — it’s just, sometimes (it is) tough not touching it and having to catch and shoot.”
Hart is averaging 7.1 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.7 assists for the Knicks while shooting 42.2% from the field, 28.6% from beyond the arc and 80.0% from the free-throw line. The Villanova product is averaging only 6.8 shots per game.
NBA NEWS & RUMORS: Josh Hart, New York Knicks Updates
The Knicks acquired Hart from the Portland Trail Blazers last season and signed the veteran to a four-year, $80 million extension this past offseason. It’s certainly not a good sign that Hart is unhappy with his role with the Knicks, who are only 9-7 on the season.
Hart has career averages of 9.7 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.4 assists with the Los Angeles Lakers, New Orleans Pelicans, Blazers and Knicks. He helped New York make it to the second round of the playoffs last season.

Hart averaged 10.2 points in 25 games with the Knicks in 2022-23 following his trade from the Blazers. It will be interesting to see if his role changes moving forward.
