Lakers Announce Brutal Rui Hachimura Injury Update

The Los Angeles Lakers announced that small forward Rui Hachimura underwent a procedure to repair a nasal fracture that occurred on November 22 against the Dallas Mavericks.

Hachimura will be re-evaluated in approximately one week.

Hachimura has appeared in 12 games for the Lakers this season. He’s averaging 11.8 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.0 assists while shooting 50.5% from the field, 42.9% from beyond the arc and 78.6% from the free-throw line.

The 25-year-old Hachimura has career averages of 12.4 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.3 assists with the Washington Wizards and Lakers. Los Angeles acquired the swingman from Washington last season.

Hachimura signed a three-year, $51 million contract with the Lakers this past offseason. He’s making $15.7 million this season.

Led by All-Stars LeBron James and Anthony Davis, Los Angeles is 9-7 on the season. The purple and gold are in seventh place in the Western Conference standings.

LeBron, who is the oldest player in the NBA, is averaging 25.7 points, 8.1 rebounds and 6.7 assists. Meanwhile, Davis is averaging 21.5 points, 12.1 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 2.9 blocks. The big man leads the NBA in blocks per game.

The Lakers got swept by the Denver Nuggets in the 2023 Western Conference Finals. The front office re-signed Hachimura, D’Angelo Russell and Austin Reaves and signed Gabe Vincent, Cam Reddish, Christian Wood, Jaxson Hayes and Taurean Prince this past offseason.
