One NBA writer is proposing that the Memphis Grizzlies acquire Jordan Poole from the Washington Wizards.
Ishaan Bhattacharya of Fadeaway World proposed the following trade idea between the Grizzlies and Wizards:
Washington Wizards Receive: Luke Kennard, Brandon Clarke, 2024 First-Round Pick (PHX), 2026 First-Round Pick (MEM)
Memphis Grizzlies Receive: Jordan Poole
According to NBA insider Marc Stein, the Wizards could trade Poole after acquiring him from the Golden State Warriors this past offseason.
NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Jordan Poole, Washington Wizards, Memphis Grizzlies Updates
“Did the Washington Wizards trade for Jordan Poole to try to rebuild his trade value to move him on in a future trade … or to make him a cornerstone player of their post-Bradley Beal future? My sense, from speaking to various league observers, is that more believe it is the former rather than the latter with Poole in Year 1 of a four-year, $123 million contract,” Stein wrote.
Poole is averaging 16.6 points, 2.4 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.1 steals and 0.5 blocks this season for the Wizards while shooting 39.6% from the field, 28.4% from beyond the arc and 83.8% from the free-throw line.
The Warriors traded Poole to the Wizards for Chris Paul. Poole is making $27.5 million this season. He signed a four-year, $128 million contract with the Warriors in October 2022.
Poole has recorded a negative plus-minus in every game this season except one. The Wizards are 2-11 and blew a 23-point lead to the Toronto Raptors on November 13.
The Grizzlies, once Ja Morant returns from his suspension, will likely start Morant, Marcus Smart, Desmond Bane, Jaren Jackson Jr. and Bismack Biyombo. Memphis could make Poole it’s new Sixth Man if the Grizzlies’ front office figured out a way to acquire Poole from the Wizards.

Poole may be better suited to come off the bench instead of being a starter with a high usage rate. He hasn’t played well with the Wizards, so much so that Washington may look to part ways with him before the February trade deadline.
