During an interview with Sam Yip of HoopsHype, Cleveland Cavaliers center Jarrett Allen talked about the improvements he’s seen from guards Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland.

“Darius, I’ll say he’s been better scoring, finding his position,” Allen said. “Last year was the first time playing with Donovan, so that kind of threw a wrench in the system for him. But now I feel like he’s finally finding his spot, finding where he needs to pass the ball.

“And for Donovan, he’s always been great. Feel like he bought into the system Day 1 and he’s been ready to play. This year not only he’s gonna score every time, but he’s making up more opportunities for everybody else.”

NBA NEWS & RUMORS: Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland, Jarrett Allen, Cleveland Cavaliers Updates

Garland is averaging 19.6 points, 2.9 rebounds and 5.8 assists on the season for the Cavaliers while shooting 48.7% from the field, 32.4% from beyond the arc and 81.4% from the free-throw line.

Meanwhile, Mitchell is averaging 29.2 points, 4.9 rebounds and 5.3 assists while shooting 48.6% overall, 39.3% from 3 and 88.7% from the foul line.

The Cavaliers are 7-6 on the season. They won 51 games last season but lost to the New York Knicks in the first round of the 2023 playoffs in five games.

“I feel like with Max [Strus] and George [Niang] we added a lot of spacing,” Allen said. “It gives Darius and Donovan the option to pass out to during the pick-and-roll. So that’s gonna open up a lot of things for the offense and they’re good guys on defense. Max has a lot of experience guarding a lot of guys and he knows how to win games. So they’re gonna help us in that department.”
