The Los Angeles Lakers are hopeful that Anthony Davis will play against the Phoenix Suns on November 10, according to Dave McMenamin of ESPN.

Davis didn’t play versus the Houston Rockets on November 8 due to spasms in his left hip. The Chicago native got hurt on November 6 against the Miami Heat.

Without Davis, the Lakers got blown out by the Rockets by a final score of 128-94. Eight games into the season, with Los Angeles 3-5 and 0-5 on the road, LeBron James admitted that he doesn’t know what to make of his team so far.

“I don’t have an assessment,” James said after the Lakers lost to the Rockets. “I mean, we can’t build cohesion if we don’t have our unit. It’s that simple. It’s just, we’re very depleted on the injury side.”

NBA NEWS & RUMORS: Anthony Davis, Phoenix Suns, Los Angeles Lakers Updates

Davis hasn’t been able to stay healthy since helping the Lakers win the 2020 championship over the Heat at the Walt Disney World bubble. He has suffered several injuries and Los Angeles hasn’t been back to the NBA Finals since winning it all in 2020.

Davis signed a three-year, $186 million extension with the Lakers this past offseason. The All-Star is committed to Los Angeles for five more years and approximately $270.5 million. Davis’ extension, which kicks in for the 2025-26 season, is the richest extension in NBA history with a projected average annual value of $62 million.

LeBron is 38 years old. He turns 39 in December and is playing in his 21st season in the NBA. The Lakers need Davis to be the best player on the team. However, his body may not be able to hold up. Davis also has a tendency to not play like the superstar he is every night.
