Tyler Herro badly sprained his right ankle in the Miami Heat’s win over the Memphis Grizzlies on November 8.

Herro immediately went to the locker room and didn’t return to the contest.

The Heat managed to beat the Grizzlies without Herro, winning by a final score of 108-102. Herro scored six points in eight minutes.

NBA NEWS & RUMORS: Tyler Herro, Miami Heat Updates

Herro will undergo an MRI on his right ankle tomorrow. The good news is that he didn’t break anything, as his X-rays came back negative.

Herro entered the Heat-Grizzlies game averaging 25.3 points. During an interview with Wes Goldberg of The Ringer, Herro didn’t hold back while talking about his scoring skills.

“I’m one of the best young scorers in the league,” Herro said, “and I have the potential to be the best scorer in the NBA at some point.”

The Heat tried to acquire Damian Lillard from the Portland Trail Blazers this past offseason and were prepared to move Herro. However, the Blazers traded Lillard to the Milwaukee Bucks and Herro was “ecstatic” when his agent told him he was staying with the Heat.

“I was happy. Ecstatic, really,” Herro said. “My family’s here, my kids, my [friends] live in Miami. Came from Milwaukee with me. Everything is in Miami. If I were to get traded, at the end of my career Miami will still be my home.”

Herro knows he has multiple critics, but the Kentucky product admitted in his chat with Goldberg that the “goalpost always moves with me.” After being in trade rumors all offseason, Herro is motivated to have his best year in the NBA this season.

“I think my name just gives people something to talk about every summer,” Herro said. “The goalpost always moves with me. At first, they said I wouldn’t be a 20-point scorer, then I’m a 20-point scorer. I don’t know what the hell they say now, but I’m sure there’s something.”
