One NBA writer is proposing that the Los Angeles Lakers trade for Toronto Raptors star Pascal Siakam in a blockbuster deal.
Ishaan Bhattacharya of Fadeaway World proposed the following trade idea between the Lakers and Raptors:
Toronto Raptors Receive: D’Angelo Russell, Rui Hachimura, 2027 Lottery-Protected First-Round Pick
Los Angeles Lakers Receive: Pascal Siakam
Siakam is making $37,893,408 this season. He becomes an unrestricted free agent next offseason.
The Lakers could start Gabe Vincent, Austin Reaves, LeBron James, Siakam and Anthony Davis if Los Angeles’ front office figured out a way to acquire Siakam from Toronto.
NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Pascal Siakam, Toronto Raptors, Los Angeles Lakers Updates
Siakam is averaging 15.4 points, 6.1 rebounds and 4.7 assists this season while shooting 41.2% from the field, 33.3% from beyond the arc and 80.0% from the free-throw line. The Raptors are building around Scottie Barnes, so a Siakam trade could happen before the 2024 trade deadline in February, especially since Siakam and the Raptors are not close in extension talks.
The Lakers would have a new “Big 3” of LeBron, Davis and Siakam if this trade idea went through. Siakam, who has made two All-Star teams and two All-NBA teams, is a talented scorer and rebounder. He has career averages of 17.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists.
The 29-year-old Siakam helped the Raptors win the 2019 championship over the Golden State Warriors. He’s a three-level scorer who could help the Lakers win their second title in the LeBron-Davis era, which began in 2019-20.

It will be fascinating to see if the Lakers make any big trades this season. The team started 2-10 last season but made it to the Western Conference Finals after making a flurry of trades.
Siakam is a player the Lakers should have their eyes on since he’s said to be available for the right price and has championship experience.
