One NBA writer is proposing that the Chicago Bulls acquire Tyus Jones from the Washington Wizards in a realistic deal.
Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report proposed the following trade idea between the Bulls and Wizards:
Chicago Bulls receive: Tyus Jones
Washington Wizards receive: Ayo Dosunmu, Dalen Terry, Julian Phillips and 2024 first-round pick (lottery-protected, via POR)
The Bulls made the playoffs in 2022 because they had a terrific floor general in Lonzo Ball. Buckley thinks Jones could help Chicago become a playoff team again since he’s a fantastic passer who doesn’t turn the ball over and can shoot from the perimeter.
NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Tyus Jones, Washington Wizards, Chicago Bulls Updates
“Jones cracks the short list of the Association’s best decision-makers, as evidenced by the canyon between his career averages in assists (4.0) and turnovers (0.8),” Buckley wrote in his NBA trade column. “He could be the quarterback that rallies this group in ways it hasn’t seen since Ball first went down with his knee injury in Jan. 2022.”
The Bulls could start Jones, Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, Torrey Craig and Nikola Vucevic if Chicago’s front office figured out a way to acquire Jones from Washington. Jones is the ideal point guard to set up LaVine, DeRozan and Vucevic, as he has career averages of 4.0 assists and only 0.8 turnovers.
The Memphis Grizzlies traded Jones to the Wizards this past offseason. Jones is averaging 11.0 points, 2.0 rebounds and 5.7 assists for the Wizards this season while shooting 49.1% from the field and 40.0% from beyond the arc.

Jones signed a two-year, $29 million contract with the Grizzlies in July 2022. He’s making $14 million this season. Jones will become an unrestricted free agent next offseason.
The Bulls are 3-5 on the season, while the Wizards are 1-5.
