One NBA writer is proposing that the Miami Heat trade for Portland Trail Blazers guard Malcolm Brogdon in a realistic deal. Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report proposed the following trade idea between the Blazers and Heat:

Miami Heat receive: Malcolm Brogdon

Portland Trail Blazers receive: Duncan Robinson, Nikola Jović and 2027 first-round pick

The Heat tried to acquire Damian Lillard from the Blazers, but Portland traded Lillard to the Milwaukee Bucks. Miami also tried to trade for Jrue Holiday, but the Blazers sent Holiday to the Boston Celtics.

NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Malcolm Brogdon, Portland Trail Blazers, Miami Heat Updates

The Heat have gotten off to a slow start this season. They are 2-4 through six games and many NBA scouts believe Miami needs an upgrade over Kyle Lowry, who is 37 years old. The six-time All-Star is averaging only 5.5 points on the season.

Brogdon, who won the Sixth Man of the Year Award last season with the Celtics, is averaging 19.0 points, 5.3 rebounds and 6.1 assists this season for the Blazers while shooting 39.8% from the field, 33.3% from beyond the arc and 80.0% from the free-throw line.

The Heat could start Brogdon, Tyler Herro, Jimmy Butler, Kevin Love and Bam Adebayo if Miami’s front office figured out a way to acquire Brogdon from Portland.

The 30-year-old Brogdon has career NBA averages of 15.5 points, 4.2 rebounds and 4.6 assists with the Bucks, Indiana Pacers, Celtics and Blazers. Since Portland is in rebuild mode in the post-Lillard era, many NBA execs believe Brogdon will be traded before the February trade deadline.
