One NBA writer is proposing that the New York Knicks acquire OG Anunoby from the Toronto Raptors in a blockbuster deal. Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report proposed the following trade idea between the Knicks and Raptors:

Toronto Raptors Receive: G Immanuel Quickley, F Evan Fournier

New York Knicks Receive: F OG Anunoby

“The Knicks were reportedly interested in Anunoby last season, and they could insert him into a big starting lineup with Jalen Brunson, RJ Barrett, Julius Randle and Mitchell Robinson,” Swartz wrote in his NBA trade column. “New York also moves on from Fournier, which would be best for all parties at this point.”

Anunoby left Klutch Sports Group for CAA in the offseason. Guess who used to run CAA? Knicks president Leon Rose.

In five games for the Raptors this season, Anunoby is averaging 14.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.4 steals while shooting 57.7% from the field, 37.0% from beyond the arc and 60.0% from the free-throw line.

The Knicks could start Jalen Brunson, RJ Barrett, Anunoby, Julius Randle and Mitchell Robinson if New York’s front office figured out a way to acquire Anunoby from Toronto. Anunoby is one of the best two-way players in the NBA. He led the league in steals per game last season and made the All-Defensive second team.

Anunoby has a player option worth $19.9 million for next season. He would become an unrestricted free agent after this season if he declines his 2024-25 player option.

He won the 2019 NBA championship with the Raptors and is looking for greater ball-handling opportunities that can result in a commensurate salary increase, according to Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports.
