The Golden State Warriors had a tough loss on the opening night of the 2023-24 NBA Season when they lost to the Phoenix Suns, 108-104. But, they have bounced back in their next two games, defeating the Sacramento Kings and Houston Rockets, both on the road.

In those two victories, we have seen some vintage Stephen Curry performances. Against the Kings he poured in 41 points, knocking down seven 3-pointers in the process with four rebounds and four assists.

On Sunday night against the Rockets, Curry knocked down another six 3-pointers and created yet another highlight for his reel. One of the Rockets’ biggest offseason acquisitions was signing Dillon Brooks, who is one of the better defenders in the NBA.

Brooks normally is tasked with defending the best offensive player on the other team. On this night, his assignment was Curry, who embarrassed him on one play in the fourth quarter that has already gone viral on social media.

That play helped the Warriors ice the game, as it was the fourth straight 3-pointer by Curry, putting Golden State up 100-89. When it gets into one of those zones, there isn’t a player in the NBA that can stop him.

“Well, we know what he’s about, and his reputation, I don’t get caught up in that, I just play basketball. So, you obviously let the game do the talking,” said Curry.

“You know a team is coming in hungry to try and beat you. There’s a lot of history with him particularly, but at the end of the day, you just hoop, and the results speak for themselves and I like to have fun out here. Especially fourth quarter, when it’s winning time.”

Brooks isn’t the first and will not be the last defender whom Curry gets the best off offensively. Based on the quote provided by Curry, this is one that he is going to remember for a while. Brooks has a way of irritating his opponents and had a lot to say about the Warriors when he was a member of the Memphis Grizzlies.

For now, Curry has gotten the last laugh against the mercurial forward. With the victory, the Warriors are now 2-1 on the season, 2-0 on the road. The Rockets have now dropped to 0-3 as their plans of becoming at least playoff contenders in the Western Conference is not off to a hot start.
